and old Binoculars on tripod doing a similar job The eyepieces are all 1.25" and are interchangeable between both telescopes Bresser 10 x 50 binoculars - again from Lidl plus fitting for tripod

Ricoh Caplio G3 digital camera - hand held from Jessops

Not strictly necessary - but inspirational  :-)

Battered model of Sputnik brought back from Moscow in 1964 Recording of Yuri Gagarin in Space Kennedy Space Centre mug from kind friend

  Tal 1 110mm reflector - no motor
  •  Two 1.25" eyepieces: 15mm, 25mm + x3 Barlow (thus making 4 magnifications) from Stockport BTC  in 2002 with 'scope

  • (added 20mm from  SCS Astro for moon)

  • Good optics, solid base, heavy stand - knocked chunks out of the kitchen door!!

  • Also added: cheap zoom (for deep sky/planets etc.) from SCS Astro

elderly 10 x 50 Binoculars  ...  old 20 x 50 Binoculars  ...  Monocular 7-14 x25 (pocket sized)

Strap them onto a Velbon Tripod for middle-of-night moons and daytime sunspot spotting ;-)

Ricoh Caplio G3 digital camera - hand held at eyepiece

Also have a SteadyPix to hold camera to Tal - but not tried it properly yet ... rather fiddly ...

Added Bresser Skylux 70mm refractor from Lidl in November 2005 (£49.95) - this is a lighter-weight outfit than the Tal and can be carried about the house when needed or nipped outside when I think the session is likely to be short!! It has been useful in seeing the crescent of Venus in the SW - not visible from the backyard - and for snatching a quick look at Saturn between showers! I can carry the whole thing (carefully) set up and on the tripod

  • Three 1.25"(32mm) eyepieces - 20mm, 12mm, 4mm

  • + star diagonal + erector (for land-based?)

Get right-way up but mirrored image

Also added the Bresser 10 x 50 binoculars also from Lidl (£9.99) - great for spotting just where a cluster/galaxy etc. might be and therefore helps in finding them with your 'scope.  Also handy for simple sessions - quick and easy ...
