Areas of the Moon

North West

Fascinating section with the Mare Imbrium, Oceanus Procellarum, western Mare Frigoris,  magnificent Copernicus, the mysterious area round Aristarchus,   rayed Kepler, the Jura mountains and the beautiful Sinus Iridum - the Bay of Rainbows

South West

More mountainous than the north but with the Mare Nubium and the Straight Wall, Mare Humorum and Gassendi, the young rayed Tycho and dark Grimaldi, the large walled plains of Clavius, Schickard and the stunning trio of Ptolemaeus, Alphonsus and Arzachel

North East

Famous seas with Mare Serenitatis and Mares Tranquillitatis (where the first men landed) and the enclosed Mare Crisium, the Valles Alpen, and Montes Causcasus, with craters Hercules, and Atlas, Aristoteles and Eudoxus

South East

Very mountainous region but with the Mare Fecunditatis and Mare Nectaris, the ridges of Rupes Altai, the Valles Rheita, the trio of craters Theophilus, Cyrillus and Catherina, with battered Jannsen, and the prominent Langrenus, Vendelinus, Petavius and Furnerius

There are simple photos for each section, showing what can be seen through a small telescope and photographed by a simple digital camera held by a very amateur casual photographer ;-)
